A taste of the Big Easy

Jamie and I had the rare treat of getting out of town together for a fun family wedding in New Orleans. Along for the ride were aunt Edith and Uncle Jim as well as the usual suspects from New Iberia. When we finally got to the hotel on Friday we met everyone for coffee in the lobby of the Roosevelt hotel. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt even fancier than it already is. We quickly changed and headed to the Friday night event which was an Indian party at the JW Marriot. The food was yummy but very spicy. There was beautiful dancing and lots of merrymaking. On Saturday we got to start the day with Praline bacon at Elizabeth's in the ninth ward. Mid-morning we went to visit with Marie Elizabeth and Noah and meet their little munchkin Annie. They live in the garden district and it was so fun to see all the different areas in New Orleans. Saturday evening he reception was at our hotel complete with a second line band and lots to eat and drink. When the wedding party was over Jamie and I got to venture out again and go to dinner with the Hall's at La Petite grocery. We had a delicious dinner that started with blue crab beignets and ended with Chocolate torte. On Sunday Papa D took me on a tour through the streets of the French quarter to see where our family used to own lots of property. It was really neat to hear his stories and memories of times long ago.
